Researchers from XAO attended academic discussions and exchanges in Cuba

    Date:Sep 12, 2013【 A  A  A 】【 Print 】【 Close 】

From the 4th to the 10th of May 2013, the Second Caribbean Symposium on Cosmology, Gravitation, Nuclear and Astroparticle Physics (STARS2013) and the Third International Symposium on Strong Electromagnetic Fields and Neutron Stars (SMFNS2013) were held in Havanand in Varadero, respectively.

Two researchers from Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory, Dr. ZhifuGao and Dr. Hao Tong have participated in the events.

Dr. Hao Tong presented a report titled "Non-detection in Fermi -LAT Observations of Magnetars: Physical Implications" in STARS2013 and another report titled "Dipole Magnetic Field of Magnetars: the Effect of Magnetars Wind" in SMFNS2013, respectively. The reports of Dr. Hao Tong are concerned with emission mechanism of magnetars and the effect of winds on dipole magnetic fields of magnetars.

Dr. Zhi Fu, Gao gave a report titled "Constraining Braking Indexes of Magnetars by Their Associated Supernova Remnants" involving the study of braking indexes of magnetars. During the conferences, Dr. Gao and Dr. Tong also had comprehensive and constructive discussions with researches from different countries on the issues of gravitational waves, gamma-ray emission in the Universe, high energy cosmic rays, and ultra-strong magnetic fields in neutron star mergers.
